Captain's Log #0

The very first of the Star Trek-like styled logs...

Currently on a one-week vacation from school. I feel like I need to make good use of it while persistently not being productive. It's funny that I never get pleased by my work efficiency. I always feel like I can do more. Anyway, besides the two important exams I have, coming next week, I finally started working on a project that required me to run a Discrete Element simulation. I am frustrated with one of the open-source multiphysics workbenches I found, which did work for Windows while all the tutorials on how to use it were given for Linux OS. There was this another open-source code that worked only for Linux and since I always wanted to switch to Linux, but postponed it repeatedly, I thought this might be my motivation to do it eventually.

However, I ended up installing WSL, Windows Subsystem for Linux. I guess I will never be able to beat my laziness lol.

While waiting for one of the CMake compiling processes, I started reading a book called "We" by Yevgeni Zamyatin. It started a bit boring but I must admit that it's nothing like any other science fiction books I have read up to this day. Although I hate the way he uses the mathematical terminology to express ordinary feelings we encounter in daily life. I don't know about his motivation in doing so, but if it is to give the book a nerdy look in a cool way, it just doesn't work like that. I might write a review about the book here after I finish it. I thought Asimov's Foundation was also boring at the beginning then it stunned me. It is mostly not a good idea to be prejudiced, especially with this kind of books so who knows, but that's a topic for another blog entry.
